A bespoke original cushion hand made with artist linen I discovered at the back of an art store while visiting a friend in Taiwan. As it was originally destined for a gallery wall I knew I had to create something special with this fabric, respecting the time and beauty of an original artwork that would no longer grace it’s textured canvas.
Using a traditional woodblock carving I stamped a wax paste to areas of the fabric to act as a resist when I dip dyed it in a pot of natural Indigo dye. the dipping process created the ombre of the indigo. I then attached hand made tassels using traditional Japanese sashiko boro stitching in silk thread I had dip dyed in indigo dye pot. The result gives a beautiful hand formed feel to the modern tribal pattern. The back of the cushion has be left with the ombre block print pattern only.
Perfect for adding an original boho, eco friendly feel to your home décor in your lounge room, bedroom or nursery, use as a floor cushion or share the love as a gift for your best friend. Take on relaxing picnics in the park or lounging on the beach with a good book…or just daydreams!
Yes this is the one and only of this pattern and style, just waiting for you!
